Student Elections

Student Council is comprised of 33 elected representatives and is chiefly responsible for exercising the legislative powers and duties of shared governance as stipulated by Wisconsin State Statute 36.09(5). Student Council Representatives serve their constituents through student advocacy and by reviewing and recommending changes to campus policy pertaining to student life, services, and interests. Students vote for Student Council representatives based on their college/school status. For example, students in the College of Engineering vote for students within that college.

The Student Services Finance Committee (SSFC) is made up of UW students whose task is to make recommendations to ASM Student Council on the allocation of over $50 million in segregated fees. SSFC provides substantial (typically $20,000 and upward) funding to organizations that provide a non-academic but educational service to the UW-Madison student body. Every student is eligible to vote for Student Services Finance Committee (SSFC) Seats.
